Says Dave: "When photographing people, I try to get a shot that captures the essence of the person, whether it's the innocence of a child, the happiness of a newly-wed couple, the love of a family, or the confidence of a potential business partner. A photographer can only do this by accident - or by planning. I like to plan, because my clients don't have time to wait for accidents."

When photographing events, Dave says the moment must be part of the image. "Good photographs of an event convey the mood and the atmosphere, as well as the people."

Product photography, on the other hand, is a different world. According to Dave: "A product photo must capture a compelling image, and evoke an emotional response, with an emphasis on why the product is something that a person would want to buy. That is critical to successful product photos."

Room interiors. Dave has photographed interiors for Ethan Allen, Robb and Stucky, and other clients. Photographing a room is not easy. A typical camera lens with an on-camera flash will result in a typical "snapshot", rather than a professional photo. Dave uses several techniques to ensure great room photos which capture the feel of the space.

Pricing for photo sessions depends on what you want to do.

In-studio portrait sessions start at $200, and include a selection of 4x6 prints and two 5x7 prints.

Photos done at your location start at $400, and include a selection of 4x6 prints, two 5x7 prints, and one 8x10 or 8x12 print.

Wedding photography starts at $795. This includes up to six hours of time (plus an hour of travel time), a set of 4x6 prints in an album, one 8x10 or 8x12 print, and four 5x7 prints. I expect to shoot five 36-exposure rolls. Additional film, time, albums, and prints, are priced separately.

In-studio product photography starts at $200, plus $100 per hour after 1 hour, in quarter-hour increments, and includes a set of 4x6 prints.

For all digital needs, call for CD pricing based on the resolution and number of images you need. I do both high-resolution JPG's and TIF files. Images can also be made available on my website for convenient viewing and downloading.
